The European Union is a great thing economically. However, if the EU government starts taking rights away from its members, we will end up with the same situation as in the USA where the individual states have no say anymore. That would be a terrible end to a beautiful and diverse Europe.

The idea behind the EU is to combine all the countries on the European Continent together so they will be more competitive with the rest of the word.
The problem with the idea is that all the countries in the EU are Socialists. So all you have is a collection of Socialist countries.
If Europe want to be more competitive, they should just get rid of the Socialism and go to a free market economy. Then is would not matter if they combined or not.
Personally, I hope things work out well in Europe. A strong European economy is good for business in the United States.

Its a strong hold that cannot stay afoot if America wants to keep control. Im most worried about the euro over taking the dollar now for some time. More on this can be found in the book called
The United States of Europe

I believe that America and it's lobbyist oppose it over the Euro.. It would change the strength of the dollar, and I am sure that is why Bush has over printed money and put America in the debt that we are in today...The American corporations rule the World really, and I think that sucks and will come back to haunt us really soon...I'm not a Republican either by way, and don't agree with their overspending policies with this current Administration..I think America is at it's weakest right now more then any other time in history, over corporations and capitalism.

If it can get its backside into gear then it will be a superpower. It already is economically. The cold war bought us 40 years of peace. The EU has cemented that, and will hopefully keep us at peace for the forseeable future. This has been the longest peaceful period in european history (inter -nation wise), and hopefully we can keep it that way
