In a recent magazine, I read that using a toothbrush to make your lips look swollen, or using a peppermint chapstick can give the effect to plumper lips. Is there any truth behind this? If so, does anyone know the exect name of a peppermint chapstick?

I don't know something about using a toothbrush (I have the impression that a toothbrush will make your lips look red like irritated, not a pretty sight I guess) or the peppermint chapstick but I do know that Sephora stores sell a lip gloss (I think in 4 or 5 different colors) that when you applying it makes your lips look plumping.

Give it a try/Good luck.

toothbrushing your lips (doesn't sound right... haha) can help exfoliate but if you do it too often, it'll make your lips feel raw.
i think the only reason peppermint lipstick makes you look/feel like you have plumper lips is because it's menthol. it's like rubbing an ice cube on your lips. blood rushes to your lips because of the sudden coldness and this reddens your lips and makes it plump because of all the blood there. but i don't think it'll last long.
my friends and i are actually having the same dilemma. i've tried several lip plumping lipsticks but they don't seem to work. i have Sally Hansen Lip Inflation to try as well as Skin Doctors Perfect Pout.
in the meantime, we all have to settle with make-up tricks.

I heard this too. About the chapstick, I mean. I don't know if it works. I also heard that to make lips appear bigger, you moisten a bit of cinnamon and put it on your lips. Then apply your lipstick or whatever.

i agree with CC the tootbrush method will probably leave ur lips all swollen not plump. first u gotta make sure that ur lips are healthy by using moisturising lip balm all the time. no chaps pls. then u use ur fav lipstick 1st coat, then apply lip liner make sure its lining is thin not thick then top it off with lip gloss!

try it!

A good hard punch in the mouth always works for me.
