That's a really broad question. There are many different types of physical assessments. Physicians do it one way, nurses do it another way, and paramedics do it yet a different way. It all depends on your level of training.
Even in prehospital medicine, there are different ways of doing a physical assessment depending on what the nature of the emergency is. The assessment will very greatly, depending on whether the patient is conscious or not, is a medical or trauma patient, has one complaint or many, or is unstable.
