seriously... I dont get it ... y would these people strip in front of a camera for a tank top and the chance of millions seeing them naked (including their parents, bosses, future spouses, etc) ... whats the appeal in that?

This phenomenon is most likely dependent on the mass consumption of alcohol. I haven't seen one of these films beyond their tv ad, but can imagine that most of the participants are in a party scene and drunk. There is also probably a lot of encouragement from a crowd of guys. This can take girls who maybe didn't get enough attention from daddy to strip in front of a bunch of hooting guys after a couple rounds of drinks. Just a guess.

Because they are drunk. Speaking of which, did anyone see the skit on SNL where Kate Hudson plays a college student back from Spring break and a GGW commercial comes on and it's her with her top off (cenored of course) and her parents see it. Funny!

Well of course when they decide on this, they're totally wasted because they're at parties. This doesn't happen when you're thinking straight. Nobody in their right mind would go on the show unless they were totally drunk.
