The Lakers talented team built around Kobe will make it to the Western Conferance Finals due to their improving roster and new acquisition, local boy Farmar. But they will not make it to the NBA finals. They are one more star player short of that.

PG- Jordan Farmar
The additon of this rookie to the team is a big upgrade over Smush Parker. He is a much better shooter and distributer than him.
SG- Kobe Bryant
Should have a career year because he is reaching his prime this season.
SF- Lamar Odom
Overrated player, but still a solid number two scoring option for LA.
PF- Vladimir Radmanovic
Reportly has a starting sport promised to him. He is a great shooter who will help to spread the floor.
C- Chris Mihm
One of the better centers in a league devoid of them. He can hold down the middle offensively and defensively.

Key Bench Players- Luke Walton is a good energy player who is able to get other players involved like a point guard. Kwame Brown is overrated but capable of being a solid NBA backup. Smush Parker should return to his proper place on this bench this season, but still provides instant offense.

It's highly unlikely but I know better than to bet against Kobe Bryant. The Lakers can easily be in the NBA finals if a number of things happen:
1. Lamar Odom comes into his own and takes some of the scoring load off of Kobe:
Odom is an excellent talent that would cause match up problems all over court but he's so unselfish that it's hurting the team more than helping them. Even with Kobe on the court, I think he should look for his shot more and it'll divert some of the attention (just a little) away from Kobe and make the game much easier for everybody else on the team as now there will be two threats.
2. Smush consistently sticks the three:
With Kobe drawing double, triple and sometimes even quadruple teams, that three point shot will be there for Smush all day. Derek Fisher thrived in this offense because he somewhat kept the defenders honest by hitting big threes. Smush needs to be able to do this and still give us those wicked throw downs!
3. Kwame shakes the jitters:
This guy consistently misses dunks and layups. He just needs to settle down and realize how big and talented he is and just play. Kwame has the size to be just as dominant as Dwight Howard, he just needs to get his confidence up.
The Lakers has a nice young team that could compete for years to come. No one really talks about him but Chris Mihm is a pretty decent center that could easily average 15 and 8 or 9. Andrew Bynum looked big and strong out there, he just needs to be a little less robotic. Cook and Radmanovic will keep the defense honest. I doubt that they'll win a bunch of regular season games but as long as they make the 'OFF's and Kobe is still Kobe, teams would rather not see them in the first round! They're capable of beating any team in the league. All of this happening still remains a mystery...guess we'll just have to wait and see like everyone else. But I would love to see another banner raised!!!

WHAT CRACK ARE YOU ON!!! You know for a fact the lakers can't get passed the Spurs, Suns, Mavericks, Grizzlies, and maybe the Clippers, Rockets, and Kings. With just Kobe the Lakers need another All-Star.

Maybe not ,The lakers have gotten a very good free agent in Vladimir Radmonovic and a nice rookie from ucla ,but they still need to have a dominant center like shaq Kobe is a very good player but he can't do it alone ,lamar odom is inconsistent, and kwame brown is still very raw. maybe a playoff team but being a championship team not in the near future
