The Northwest (not in the Huge cities) is a relatively inexpensive place to live. We use wind, hydro-power (dams) & a lot of natural gas here, so electricity can be cheap, depending on where you live.

Oregon has no sales tax, if that helps. Oregon also has people who pump your gas for you, so no getting out of the car.

There's fresh air, beautiful scenery, plenty of water (rain at least half of the year). Plenty of trees. We also have the coast. Very beautiful. I'm so suprised people go all their lives without seeing such a marvelous sight.

We're generally friendly; there's a few rude people here, but not too many.

Here's some tourism links. Might help you find out more information.

The best place to live is right here in the Tennessee river valley...

No state income tax
Low electric bills (thank you TVA)
NO Hurricanes (They're just rain showers by the time they get here)
NO Earthquakes... been here 40 + years and haven't felt the ground shake yet.
NO forest fires... too much moisture.
NO floods (Again, thank you TVA)
NO tornadoes (Due to all the mountains around us)
The most excellent scenery in the U.S. (I live near Chattanooga which is known as the 'Scenic City')
Most of the people who live around here are pitifully under educated, which can be annoying, but gives the average person a tangible sense of superiority.
Mild Winters, Breath Taking Autumns, Delightful Springs, and Muggy, Hot Summers (but never above 100 F due to all the moisture).
If you need a taste of the big city, Atlanta is less than two hours away.
Music City USA (Nashville) is also less than two hours away.
In short this is the perfect place to live for many reasons if you don't mind living in the South and putting up with the red necks who live here.
