In life one must be flexible and adaptable because life hits you with the unexpected when you don't expect it. Some call it Murphy's Law. Others look at it fatalistically as bad karma. If you have a worthy goal and you are committed to reaching it come hell or high water, then you will take the speed bumps, detours, delays and two steps back as part of the journey. If you get discouraged with the first speed bump, guess what! Say goodbye to your dreams. Do you know how many ball players toil in the minor leagues, dreaming, drooling for the chance to play in the major leagues, the big dance? All of them. How many make it? Just the stars. Maury Wills toiled there year after year. He wouldn't give up on his dream. No major league team wanted him. He worked his butt off and never stopped working his butt off. Still no team wanted him. He never gave up. Finally circumstances arose and he found himself in the big leagues. He worked even harder. He became a perennial all-star. Those who saw him in his heyday, would've been surprised at the struggle he went through to get there. Someone that good certainly wouldn't stay in the minors very long. Maury just did not give up even when it looked like he would have to say goodbye to his dreams.
