i was working for 7 years in a very male dominated business. i was the only female and had 72 male coworkers. i was in charge of payroll, among many other responsibilities, so i knew exactly how much each employee made. my boss told me the new salesman deserved more money than i did because he was a man and men need more to provide for their families. i was single parenting at the time and this man was just single. since nobody else there was willing or able to do my job (unless i trained them) i told the boss i would only do the work my wages paid for and promptly received a raise.

"Look around you, this is a rich neighborhood. The only reason you got this job was because your friend begged me to give it to you."

This was a racial remark by my boss at schnucks.. He made me feel low and like nothing.. something bad happened to him the following year so i dont know where he is now.. ROFL.
