Like most MMORPGs out there you must first buy the game, I have seen it for about $29.99 at this point, and then there is the monthly fee, $14.99.
Be sure to find out if Blizzard, the makers of the game, have an office in your state or not. I live in Washington and they have an office here so I get charged tax so it is closer to $17.00 a month for me. I usually buy the 2 month game cards.
Try the game first if you know anyone who plays they can sign you up for a 10-day free trial of the game, you just need their CD's to download and then they get you a new Key-code. You can make the trial version into a monthly subscription without having to buy the game, and the buddy who set you up gets a free month if you do.
There is an Expansion coming out in October, current retail is about $45.00 pre-sale.

No, first you have to pay about $49.99 for the CD, next you must choose a subscription plan, the longer the plan, the less it costs, and vice versa. I believe a 3 month plan is about 11 or 13 dollars, while a 1 month subscription is $14.99. But once you finish subscribing you get one whole month free. I do mean exactly 24 hours.

Unfortunately no. You do have to purchase the game, I picked mine up for 35.99 then it is a monthly fee of 14.99. The nice thing is though, you can have many characters and switch between servers. They also have a scheduled upgrade time every Tues and the upgrades are free unlike a lot of other on line games where you have to purchase expansions separately. This game has a lot of people on line at all times, so it makes it easy to find groups to play with, but it also has a really good individual game play. Good luck with whichever on line game you choose.

when you buy it, you get a 30 day trial, then like everyone else has said, you had like a 14.99 fee monthly to continue. if you like the game and want to continue playing (i'm sure you will...i'm a addicted now and have never been interested in this sort of game before)...it is cheaper in the long run to get more than one month at a time....you will end up saving quite a bit by paying for several months rather than one month at a time.

Sad. Another player. If you are gonna pay, make sure you like the game. They don't reimburse you. Personal experience.
