Is not the goal of everyone to be happy? One way or another regardless of religion, culture, belief, and/or motivation everyone does everything that they do to be happy. Even if it's for someone else they did it for the gratification of seeing someone else happy and in turn that gives them happiness. So what advice do you all have for someone who can't find a reason to be happy?

Be thankful for what you have. Imagine how happy a parapalegic would feel to go take a walk in the park and then go take that walk. Be glad you still have legs, and that you're not blind and can see the sun, that you're not infected with syphillis or smallpox, that you have air conditioning and internet access and chinese food delivery (I'm just taking a guess here but you get the idea).

Start small and work your way up, and consider how the rest of the world lives. Something like 1.1 billion people live on less than a dollar a day. That's more than three times the population of America. You've probably consumed more than that while reading this answer. Would such a person be happy with your life? If it's good enough for him, then why isn't it good enough for you?

And btw, if you're not happy, obviously your purpose and reason for living is to _find_ or _create_ happiness for yourself. Why do you need me to tell you this, or did you just want to hear it from someone else?

Look in a different place. I was like that for years and I do mean years. I had a job that most people would die to have, I was making money hand over fist. I had a very cool condo across the street from the beach, driving an Italian sports car and taking off for where ever I got ready to go when I got ready to do it.

I wasn't happy, and towards the end I did not pretend to be anymore either. Everyone thought I had lost my mind and the truth was I was real close to it.

To make a 16 year story short, it hit me one day what was missing in my life. I dumped the goods (kept the cash, I said I was crazy, not stupid) and did what I really wanted to do.

It took a while to pull myself out of the funky grove I had worn myself into, but I got to tell you, today I am so happy I have to sit on my hands to keep from waving at folks.

Change the way you look at things and you will change your life.

The fact that you're alive is a reason to be happy. God has a plan for everybody. But of course, we can't be happy 24/7 because sadness is happiness' evil twin sister. It's just the matter of how you handle things. Think of things that'll make you happy, even the silliest things. The things you want to do. Be content with everything you have. Imagine those people who're facing complicated matters in life. They still have reasons to be happy. Nothing lasts forever, not even sadness and sorrow.you'll get through with it. Life is so short so live it well. BE HAPPY!!!

Give it (time). Something will come along and bring happiness into the person's life.
Life is not always happiness each and every day. We all feel down at some point and time, and that doesn't mean we stop living. We live because that is what life is about. We take it one day at a time. We must be happy for ourselves first and then happiness flows out like a fountain to others.

The key is: Do not find a reason to be happy. Just be happy.

Happiness comes from your own self, not from what the world can do for you.

Be amused at life itself! Life gets tough and the challenges seem too difficult to cope with. Be amused with the fact that you were chosen for this challenge because you are capable.

Truly: Every challenging/ tormenting moment in life actually gives you a gift of strength and courage to cope better and understand better.

The goal should be to live life to the fullest without hurting yourself or hurting others and you'll be happy with what you have!

First off, things and people cannot make you happy. Happiness comes from inside, from your faith in religion, your belief in life itself, you acceptance of your inter self. And mostly from the person that you want to become...that is what will make you happy in the long run. Don't expect others to do it for you they can't and won't try.
Life is a struggle, and with each and every struggle you become stronger and wiser and with that you become more secure and with the security you become happy. So, remember the next struggle is just a stepping stone to becoming the person you dream you will be.
I'm the person that makes me a better person by helping others with things that they don't feel they want or can do. By going up against others to make a wrong a right. Made lots of mistakes along the way, but the response I hear back from others is that I'm nice and kind to people. That is what I wanted my person to be and I've attained it.
Good luck in becoming who you want to be, work at it, it's hard, but the reward is worth it in the end.

You don't need a reason to be happy.. Happiness is a feeling and even though I could point you so many reasons (like you are borned a normal person, see those with disablity), if you choose not to happy then it's pointless....

Don't be mistaken. I have been through the point of unbearable valueless life..

So try to find some small goals and try to achieve them so that you can get some satisfaction with what you can achieve. It doesn't need to be super duper like "i'll save the world" or whatever...

just try to set something that is happening to you everday and that you would try to achieve something by putting some effort in it.. for example, try to save upto a certain amount of money.. try to get 1000 sit-ups.. and don't think about any reasoning behind.. just set it for the sake of setting a goal and do it for the sake of achieving..
you'll see...

You don't need a "reason" to be happy. Happiness has little to do with- reason. Happiness is doing what ever THAT IS- that makes one want to go on. It's the WANTING- followed by the ACHIEVING- that results in happiness. Hopeless people tend not to want anything. They have no dream, no desire, no anything to look forward to. A happy person has everything he needs- so he's achieved everything to live for. So if you're not happy, look within yourself & ask, "What the heck do I WANT???" -That done, they should get their rear in gear- & out on the road to track it down... You may be IN for quite a journey, but somewhere along the way- you're bound to find something worth living for. And THEN- you'll be happy.

well your living. you are not separated from your family and friends. they are not mourning your loss.

look there is never a reason for happiness. there shouldn't have to be. Be happy because you want to be. its better than being sad or depressed.
It's not the goal for everyone to be happy. a lot of people don't think that big. people want to be successful or get married. Happiness is just a nice side effect.

There are a lots of reasons to go on with your life. You was put
here for a purpose and until that inner longing is fulfilled you will
certainly not feel happy. Think of what will make you happy and then you will be made happy. I wish you the best.
