China, no doubt about it. China is rising so fast that a problem that their government is facing is the economy. It's literally going out of control. the eastern side of china along the coast of the pacific ocean is flourishing. their one billion population is fairly intimidating. they have a strong army, they have a strong ambition, they have tons of money, and what else do you need other than a strong army and tons of money to become the world power? nothing as you can see from the United states example. India is also rising really quick. but will india peak the same time china peaks? no i dont think so i think china would peak and reign as the world power for a short period of time and then india would overthrow them but china would still remain a strong power. as for the United states, what goes up must come down, i'm pretty sure after china becomes the world power a lot of nations would begin to turn on the united states. we could see this already happening in central american with the mercosur front. also i do believe that russia is going through an internal revolution and sooner or later they are going to be once again a powerful nation like the soviet union they once were. another point i believe in is if the african nations found unity and equal opportunities they would rise up and rule the world too.

China now has the economic muscle and the ability to sink america overnight. They won't do that yet, because they don't want a hot war with America yet.

America is in so much debt that the only thing keeping her going is the international community using the dollar as the currency of choice for international trade. This keeps the dollar boyant in the international money markets and allows the US to service it's debt.

China makes most of the stuff america buys, so this situation makes sense to them too, but if China decided to dump it's dollar reserves and trade in Euro's instead, the dollar would collapse, the US would default on it's international loan agreements, the US economy would be in the toilet so fast that it would make the crash of 1929 look like a picnic.

China will slowly become the next super power and at the rate it is developing, it will only take the next 30 - 50 years to be so. India is not that far behind China.

That is one of the reasons that the US is desparate to control the oil and gas in the middle east, the only way the US can 'contain' China is to control their access to energy resources.

When i was in China in 2001, the country was about 10 percent industrialized. The manufacturing capacity that the country will have at full industrialization is staggering - everything is made in China already! Also, the new railway into Tibet will allow for gold, iron and uranium mining in an area barely exploited for resources. Basically, start learning mandarin if you want to go into business in the next 20 years.

The USA. Red China is crumbling politically, along with most of Europe, people are sick of socialism and communism and the racism and hate that it breeds. Russia cannot afford the costs associated with that status, not many countries can. France has taxed away its ability to be a power. Germany would like to emerge as the leader of Europe and become a power again.... just what Gorbachev(sp) warned about in his book.

The United States of America, is a decaying world power. But its going to take at least one hundred years or more for it to fall down. I'm hoping the U.K. stays a world power even if the U.S. doesnt.

There will be no more new world powers. United States will remain the top superpower for decades to come. The other countries arent smart enough to accomplish this.
