I attended one of those home parties tonight, and was kind of uncomfortable, just felt like I was in some cult, everyone was holding hands and slopping sugar, I was really uneasy. Everything was alright until I opened the catalog and saw the prices! WOW! Almost $300 for a skin care line! I was very disgusted, and then the sales lady was very pushy and wanted me to sell this stuff! I mean come on, it was for a friend of mine and she told me that she only sold $45 worth. I am not sure what her commission is but she can't be making a real living with it, like she bragged. OH yea $75 for a candle set of 3, shocking! Ok on to my question. Have any of you all been to a party like this and if you have, tell me about your experience. Just wanting to know if this is the norm for these type of parties, been invited to another party for Home and Garden Party next week, and if they are the same I will just kindly decline the request, or make myself busy that night. lol.

one of my friends got into the arbonne thing and was hosting a party......i declined but told her i would check it out online and get something from her to help her out but after i saw the prices, OMG!!!!! i just couldn't afford it or even see myself spending that much for so little! talk about expensive! i was so glad i didn't go, i usually always pass on those types of things, pampered chef, arbonne, etc.... i used to attend these kinds of parties but i always felt uncomfortable, like i was obligated to buy and i HATE having to say "no thanks" a dozen times in the span of an hour. i think the arbonne reps get a 35% discount or profit or something like that but to me, it's not worth it.

Oh, I'd love to comment about this, but I'd probably get into trouble! I know someone who left my company to sell Arbonne. Later this month she is getting a Mercedes. She thinks it's so wonderful, but she's a materialistic person, I'm not. She is trying hard to get me to leave my current company and to sign under her. I don't plan on it. I like what I do and I've never felt as if I'm pressuring anyone to purchase from me. I consider what I have a great opportunity for anyone and would never want someone to be uncomfortable.

If you get a bad consultant, yes, they will make you uncomfortable. Just remember, some of these women do this as a means to make a living. What they do is no different than what is done in a mall. It's just in the home setting. When haven't you walked into a store at the mall and been asked, "Can I help you?" Or asked several times, "Can I help you find something?" or "Did you find everything you were looking for?" It's the same thing.
