I lost ten years when I left my ex husband but walked away with dignity and a new respect for myself. I am sure that my situation was different from yours (at least I hope so). I say that when you leave a relationship, you take with you what becomes a learning experience. You may not really know what it is that you want but you know what you DON"T want. If you know deep down that you did the right thing then stick with it. You only know what is best for you and you shouldn't feel "bad" or guilty in any way. Just keep reminding yourself why you did what you did and you will be ok. Don't look at the years as wasted, look at them as something you can look back on and appreciate the good with the bad because in the long run, you become a better person for it. Hang in there, each and every passing day brings new opportunities and happiness!

No such thing as wasted years. You are preparing yourself for perfection for that perfect mate.
All is good. Even if it feels bad right now. You must be thankful for it. Do it everyday. It will help you feel good and realize its purpose.

it's not wasted.
did you enjoy the time you had? cause if so... it had to be worth it.
i just wouldn't think of it as wasted. it may not have lasted forever, but that doesn't mean it wasn't good.
my friend would say that you've learned something... but i don't think it's even that complicated.... i like to think of it as good while it lasted... and there's nothing wrong with that.
as people we're always growing... always changing...

How do we help? Move on. You've broken it off, so you're already definately headed in the right direction, if you feel you were wasting your time.
