first of all Syria is not Shia(as the others say in their answers)
and answering your question :first it could be of the problems between Shia and Sunni, like the Saudi Arabia's scholars(which are Wahhabi, and even allow killing Shia)said not that they don't support the Hezbollah they had told ppl not to pray for them either.but I think the main reasons are political and mostly economical, the Arab countries don't want to mess with the worlds bully (US) because they don't want to loose their benefits that they have because of their relations with the US.

That is the exact reason. It is Shi'a. Other Arab countries are Sunni or related sect of Islam. There has been war between the Shi'a and Sunnis in the past and most likely will be again. Hezbollah supports the reestablishment of Babellon and a Persian Empire, not a populare sentiment in the rest of the Middle East. The vast majority of the Middle East, those that have studied their history do not want a resurgence of this empire and all of the problems that came from it. They support an Arabian Empire instead. So there are differences in religon, perspective, and future hopes and desires. These are the differences that have driven the wedge between these peoples

The major Arab nations are not actively supporting Hezbollah because Hezbollah is a shi'ite group primarily sponsored by Iran (the major Shi'ite nation in the region). The other Arab nations are predominately Sunni, and see Hezbollah as the Iranian's way of extending influence in the rest of the Muslim world. For obvious reasons, the Sunni nations fear for their stability if Iran succeeds in this.

first of all kudos on noting that Iran is not an arab nation. not many people know that! bravo!

four words to answer your question -- liberalization of society views
the arab nations are usually very unified as we can see from the previous conflicts, especially egypt, lebanon and syria. everytime any of these countries were drawn into a confrontation the other arab nations would back them up. but after the yom kippur war and the camp david agreement, egypt pulled back and recognized the right for israel to exist. now the other arab nations do support the fact that israel does not belong in the former palestine territory, but are they willing to take up arms and force israel out is another question. maybe fifty or so years ago they may have, but did you realize that society's views have changed and people want a peaceful and calm civilization. the newer generation realizes that war is not the answer, diplomacy is. many more people now are going out on to the streets to protest as opposed to picking up arms. hezbollah is considered as a guerilla fighting force and want to push israel out of palestine through force so a lot of arab nations don't like that fact. but i still personally believe that the arab countries are supporting hezbollah although they arnt fighting against israel. its just the fact that the arab nations understand that another bloody confrontation is not going to help the situation and the last two things that they want happening is america helping israel "defend herself" and the conflict escalating into a full scale war possibly a world war. our western society keeps pressuring other nations to be peaceful and not fight each other and to somewhat extent this does affect if the arab nations do or do not declare if they are supporting the hezbollah

Hezbollah is sort of weird. On the one hand, in many Shiite neighborhoods in Lebanon and other countries, they have built schools and social programs, and handed out food and done some really great things. On the other hand, they bomb the piss out of Israel just because they are Israel. It'd be one thing if they were attacking Israel's military, and declaring war on Israel, but that's not exactly what they are doing. And in the process they pissed Israel off, and now Israel has killed hundreds of Lebanese civilians. Now Israel's going to disarm them...again...and they are going to lose a lot of support from the communities they were supposedly helping.

So if you ask me Hezbollah is digging their own grave. Yeah they have done some good things. And yeah they are technically a recognized political party. But they lose any respect that may be warranted to them by militarizing themselves and being a bee in Israel's bonnet. I think other Arab countries are getting sick of them because they are sort of two-faced and counterproductive. Hezbollah clearly doesn't have the interests of their people at heart, because if they did, they'd realize that they'd gain a lot more power to help build more schools and hospitals and the like if they would take the diplomatic route. Instead they choose these bizarre bursts of senseless violence that accomplishes nothing but slowing down Lebanon's progress.

I think that in and of itself makes Hezbollah a terrorist organization. They gain the people's support by building a school or two, but once they see that the country is taking off on its own and becoming more progressive, they see their power slipping away, and to get it back they either have to terrify the civilians or destroy the country's infrastructure. And lo and behold, they have done both.

Well hezbollah are terrorists. They shacked up in Sudan with Osama et al and no one wants to be put in the same sentence as that cat. The US has warned Syria not to contribute to Hez, but they are being insolent, even after threats of Sanctions...whatever that means.

The fact that they are Shi'a doesn't help either. We're not talking like Yankees-Red Sox rivalry, these guys hate each other.

Hezbolla is on the Iranian payroll. Hezbolla is primarily Shiite and therefore out of the Sunni mainstream. Syria has a defense pact with Iran and helps maintain Hezbolla. The Arab Countries are wary of the Persian Hegemon.

Because most arabs dont want to be part of a war that should have never been started by Hezbollah in the first place. Who wants to support a group of losers!

I think it's because Hezbollah is pretty mercenary. Their credo seems to be, "Death To Israel- Or Die", -not exactly the kind of faith that inspires other Arab countries to give up their sovereignty & run right out to help them- even if they DON'T like Israel. Hezbollah is the neighborhood troublemaker- so they tend to be kept at arms lenth- until they can be useful behind the scenes...
