Well, Moving forward is life story... Move on.... but must make an assesment for what u need & what u will need in coming future.. think abt your budget... sometimes it nice to upgrade RAM than upgrading processer.... so do make analysis.. abt ur works.... & needs... & budget...
After than... u may have to just change the RAM, processor or may have to sell this one & buy a newer one....
So, do ask in ur locality by going to shop....
Thanx & Regards

There are two routes you can do this.
The first step is to know WHY you need a new processor? If your playing games on the computer then it might not be the processors fault that your running slow. How much memory does your computer have? what kind/size of video card are you running? These are all vital bits of information that your lacking in your question.
Your asking in yahoo questions how to upgrade your processor, my suggestion is to go to the store and buy a computer that will run your software. When you spec the computer out, you should be concentrating on RAM + CPU and the video card. Upgrading can get very expensive very very quickly unless you have a "guy" that you know that is really into working with computers. My "guy" just sold me his "demo" computer for about 500$ that will smoke almost any store bought computer on the market currently.

Its fairly simple... go to the webiste below.. it should help you (its an old article). But its a lot simpler to just buy another cpu or motherboard from sites such as newegg.com or tigerdirect.com
By the way, you don't need to upgrade your 1.47 processor. My CPU has 1.60GHz processor, but I've installed a new video card (GeForce 6800), new sound card from creative lab, a USB 2.0 port, ethernet card and up my memory to 1GB (all this over time). If you are going to go up in processors and want to build it yourself, but a new motherboard with chipset in it already. Plus that A+ Certification book written by Michael Meyers and Scott Jernigan (available on amazon.com and bookstores near you) is a great book on all things hardware.

You buy another processor that will work in your computer.. Actually your computer is pretty old so you would be best living with it or getting a new one.

The processor speed is like your car engine power. In order to give yourself more horsepower in your car, you would need to replace the engine.
Like a car, it is easier to get a new one rather than swap out the processor.

you can't "make" a processor higher, you would have to upgrade to a different processor. If you didnt know that, then you shouldnt try to do that yourself.

YES YOU CAN MAKE A PROCESSOR FASTER. HOWEVER IT IS NOT SAFE. YOU RUN THE RISK OF BURNING OUT YOUR CHIP.
THIS IS CALLED OVERCLOCKING. TO DO IT GET INTO YOUR SYSTEM BIOS AND CLICK YOUR PROCESSOR OPTIONS. IT WILL GIVE YOU AND OPTION TO OVERCLOCK BUT BE CAREFUL.
