If you're thinking that swiming would make you thinner in a zap, then very sorry. It is not so.
In fact, swiming would reduce your weight very slowly. I have been swiming for last 6 months, every day for about an hour and I have lost only a kg or two. But it really helps to keep myself fit. Through out of time I never had a illness of any type. It increased my stamina greatly. I can go on with physical strains (e.g. walking, bicycling), much longer than earlier.
If you are looking out to loose some weight very fast, then first attend some gym. But keep it in mind, once you've joined there, you can't stop going over there all of a sudden. You'd accumulate much than what you'd have lost. It is said to be better to continue swimming & going to gym simultaneously. Consult some doctors before you jump in.

My room-mate in California was an Olympic swimming hopeful, so I had better get this one right.
Yes, swimming is phenomenally good for you because:
1.It is an excellent aerobic exercise.
2.Swimming is one of the few things that you can do that exercises every, and I mean every muscle in your entire body.
3.One of the many things that swimming has going for it is the fact that not only is it aerobic and it exercises every muscle in your body, but it is also a gentle exercise. It is aerobic, but you are not pounding your muscles like when you are jogging, so that for the same aerobic hit, you have much less danger of problems like shin splints.
4.check out the bodies of people who have been swimming regularly for a long time. Pretty together, huh? That is really the key to it:Swim regularly.Try to swim on a regular basis, and keep it up.
That's when the benefits will become apparent.

Yes, swimming is really good for you, as any other exercise is if it is done properly. Keep on swimming. If you are swimming for weight loss, you can't expect a miracle in a week. Going to the gym may give you faster results if you want to tone your body or for weight loss. Just make sure you do not overdo any exercise and incorporate a healthy diet into your lifestyle too. Good luck.

Swimming is good, I don't know about better, but it is good. You use all the muscles of the body while swimming and it's great for you heart. The only reason you don't feel any different is because you're not putting strain on your muscles as you would in the gym. Like when you can pick someone up in water, but not on land, you feel lighter in water and don't feel as if you're working as hard.

Too much of anything is bad, you know!! Swimming is a very good aerobic exercise and about an hour a day is good enough ! Try to relax your mind when swimming, you'll feel refreshed.
Perhaps you can alternate it with some other form of exercies like cycling, jogging, gym - variety adds spice to life .....

Swimming is extremely good for the body! You're not going to see any results after just a week. I don't know what your goal is, but if it's physical, wait a few more weeks before you look for results. If you're trying to feel better mentally, you should feel good soon! Keep up the good work.

Swimming is better for some people. It is a good low impact exercises. If you can get in the gym though go for it. The best payoff exercises is the elliptical trainer if your gym has one highly suggest this.

Swimming is great for you. It excercises every muscle in your body....It takes longer than a week to notice a big difference...Are you swimming laps? What stroke are you using? The butterfly or the breat stroke would be the best strokes to use.

Swimming can be great exercise. In addition to doing laps you can do aerobic exercises. But you have to keep your heart rate up.
By exercising in water you do not have as much impact on your joints. It is also easier to exercise in water if you are considerably overweight.
