I agree. Why be influenced by other answers and just type your answers without looking at the other answers. Use your own mind and words and answers. That is the ones I admire the most...

I agree 100%. What sucks though is that sometimes a question will have NO answers, then when you answer it (thinking you're the first) 8 answers appear there already from like 5-10 minutes ago. And you're answer may be very similar to one of them even though it was completely genuine. I've even tried refreshing the page to avoid this, and to make sure I'm the first but that still doesn't work.

To answer your question though, I keep all my answers original and genuine and it sucks when someone 'bites'.

Yes I check them out. So what? Am I so feeble in my points of view that I am going to be swayed; simply because others have written before me?

Occasionally, the question has been answered as I would have chosen to answer it. At other times, points are raised that cast new light on what I had held as true and complete in my mind. Alternatively, they may reinforce my belief in my PoV.

Why shouldn't Yahoo!Answers be about educating the respondent - as much as it is about resolving the questioner's enquiry?

I do - if someone has already answered the question in the same manner that I would, then I move on. I do not need points so badly s to keep repeating the same answer that someone else has already posted.

Sometimes I look at other answerers posts if the question is hard to comprehend. Most of the time I just read the question and then answer, and read others answers afterwards.

I don't look at the other answers for inspiration I just look to make sure that my answer hasn't already been said by someone else. I'm not one of these points whores who just answer questions to get 2 lousy points (what do they mean anyway) I choose to answer questions that interest me!

I'll look at other answers to see if some one answered right (depending on what kind of question). Also I'll check them out to see if some one is flat wrong or being a jerk.

I always answer first, & sometimes it's just amazing how many answers are similar once I get to reading those already posted.
