This time that I pretended to be asleep on the living room floor, I must have been like 3 or 4, I wanted my dad to carry me to bed but I didn't think that he would...I lay there for a few seconds and then I felt these arms come and pick me up; I looked up to see my dad carrying me to my bedroom, I smiled and pretended to be asleep again...I'm pretty sure he saw me open my eyes but he let me think that he didn't. :)

I remember the first year my parents let my younger sister and I go trick or treating alone. We went to a lot of houses and had tons of candy. By this time we were several blocks from home. What happened was some big kids sprayed shaving cream on all the street signs and we didn't know where we were and got all turned around. Suddenly my sister let out a wail and she was crying. I told her not to worry that I would find the way back. She said, "There's a hole in my bag and I've lost most of my candy!". I found the way home and I shared my candy willingly with her and I was so happy I handled the bad situation so well.

My favorite memory(yes, even as OLD as I am... I can still remember :-) is of my mother spending so much time with us. She was very young when I was born (just barely 17) but she never let us want for anything. She was a very tiny woman and worked like she was a very big woman. We didn't have a lot that money could buy, but we were thrilled with the things she made with her own hands. The best thing I think is that we were probably what many considered "very poor" But we didn't know it. She made our lives very comfortable and happy. And now that she has recently left us, those memories keep me filled with happiness.

I don't know how old I was, very small, but my favorite memory is of crawling up into my grandmother's lap. It didn't matter what she was doing, reading, talking with a friend who'd come over, she'd help me up and let me snuggle up against her, she'd put her arms around me and I'd feel cozy, and warm, and safe, and loved. I'm nearly 60 years old, been married twice, had several relationships, and there has never been another emotional experience to match that.

I have so many that it's hard to choose just one but if I really think about it, the one I'd narrow it down to would be when my family was moving from California to Colorado. We spent every last dollar we had to make the move and had to live with my father's mother. My brothers and and I were put into school while my dad looked for employment around the state and in neighboring states. I remember it as a grand adventure (I was six), but now looking back I know it must have been extremely difficult on my folks, but my brothers' and I never knew the strain it was having on them. When Halloween rolled around my school had a carnival and a lady was giving away kittens. I immediately took one and went running to my mother who was doing face painting. She said NO and told me to take it back. Well one of my brothers accompanied me and we hatched a plan. We walked around for an hour and returned with the kitten, telling our mother that the lady had already left and we couldn't just abandon the kitten. We got to take her home with us. The very next day we were in the yard playing (or fighting, as the case may be) when this couple walks by with a scrawny kitten following them. They asked us if we'd like to watch it while they finished their walk. Of course, we said yes and rushed out to grab the kitten and ran inside to show our mom who said not just NO but "If you value your butts you'll take it back outside." We told her he was starving and she caved and let us put him with the other kitten and feed him, but only if we promised to give him back to the couple. Which we grudgingly did. My oldest brother returned from a friend's house just as the couple came back asking if we'd been allowed to keep the kitten. He thought they were talking about the kitten we'd brought home from the carnival and said yes. When my mother saw my two brothers and I playing with the kittens and not fighting for a change, she made the decision to let us keep both kittens. That's how we got two kittens in two days and made an eternal bond between the three of us. That's my favorite.

Can't think of one. My most vivid is when I was three and fell in the dirt behind the house and cut my wrist open on a peice of glass. I remember my dad was on the ladder, I remember the color of the towel and the color of the sink in the hospital bathroom. That is it.
Sorry to ruin your pretty question!
