Live on a boat as I do. Having a home that rises and falls slowly with the tides is very relaxing. The most stressful thing I have to do sometimes is to make sure I've got bread or rice crispies for the swans and their goslings when they come alongside for their breakfast. Still have all the amenities that seem necessary in life. I get off my boat in the mornings and everyone I pass has a cheery hello, unlike living in a street where I'm unlikely to know my neighbour. I can also move my home whenever I like, take it away for a few days and anchor in a creek and spend the weekend naked. Now that's very relaxing!! There's a picture of the boat on my 360 page - take a look!

I already have. I live in the country. When you live in the country, most of your neighbors will be pretty laid back, not in a hurry, not likely to be upset with you when you're not in a hurry.
It's a slower way of living. It naturally allows you to enjoy life. Fresh air, sunshine. Nobody around to bug you or get on your nerves. Enough elbow room helps people get along better. I think that if I lived in a big city like NYC, I couldn't help but be uptight. You're living up under a gazillion other people. All that noise. All those smells. Sensory overload.
Get away to the country and do nothing for a while. Relearn how to dream. Relearn how to play. Breathe fresh air, bask in the sun without a bunch of people looking at you. It's a great way to cleanse the spirit and to get real.

This is gonna sound really wacky - and it is - but I swear it puts me in a trance. First, I grab some trance music, preferably something that sounds melodic and has a constant beat. Then I put on some incense or scented candles so that a pretty smell wafts through the room. Next, I start swaying to the music, either using a hula hoop or simply just feeling the beats go through me. After about half an hour, it turns into a really heavy trance and sometimes it's almost nirvana-like.

What a silver tongue you have. Chill out, the connotation makes since in the current climate(bad pun). I used to think a great workout, and a bong load was the best thing ever. But I stopped smoking and drinking 9 months ago. I love to Mountain Bike. It does not seem like exercise, it puts you in touch with nature, and lets you push all your limits and boundaries. While exercise for some is not very relaxing, it is very cathartic. The sleep after a long ride is the best ever.

I resort to private time. Listen to music, read a book, or if it's raining I sit outside and watch the storm and listen to the thunder. I go for walks and look at nature, the trees, etc. Sometimes I go fishing, find a spot where no one else is around and can fish for hours. I don't let things get to me, I take things with a grain of salt and whatever is happening....it too will pass.

I put a ban on my microwave and have been making a bunch of old recipes from my grandmother's cookbooks. I never knew her because she died while my mom was pregnant with me, but my mom gave me her cookbooks when I got married and I've made dinner every night from those cookbooks because I want to do things the "slower" way, the old-fashioned way. In a world of instant-gratification, it really makes you appreciate things that take time, like making dinner and building a relationship strong enough to last the 60+ years like my grandparents' did.
