I agree that the Ace Combat series is quite awesome but I really enjoyed Heroes of the Pacific because it offered more of a challenge. Back in the day, before sidewinders and mach 1 speeds, you really had to know how to dog fight. It's far easier to slip a heat seeker off the rail from a mile or two away than to close on your target and fill his plane with enough lead to down the sucker. Learning how to master the low speed maneuvers can be just as difficult as a 9 G turn. Heroes of the Pacific offers a variety of historic combat aircraft, and there's some pretty tough sorties to be fought through. Not only will you have to master low speed up close and personal dog fighting, you'll have to learn to torpedo ships and subs, including dive bombing, and there's also the ground missions. I think if you're looking for something just as exciting as flying modern jets that can take out an enemy from a mile away you might want to get this game and see what our fathers and grandfathers flew into combat. It may not be as awe inspiring as being an Eagle Driver but there's just as much glory in piloting and Avenger over hostile waters.
