I mean, seriously, don't they all want the same basic things? They all want women to dress modestly, homosexuals to go away, no alcohol, etc.
Religious people are more similar to each other than they are to non-practicing people of the same religion, if that makes sense. Maybe this isn't a question so much as an invitation to discuss amongst yourselves.
Why haven't the fundamentalists of the abrahamic religions gotten in bed w/ each other yet? It seems like such a natural political alliance.

yeah, I'm being tongue-in-cheek here. I don't feel like acting PC.
But people always assume I'm Jewish because of my Jewish last name. In actuality, I was raised Southern Baptist. Now I'm dating a non-practicing Muslim. I'm pretty much agnostic.
I know lots of people from all 3 religions. I was pretty inspired by the book "A Return to Modesty", by Wendy Shalit. She's orthodox Jewish. But the book has clear Christian overtones. And I'm sure many of the Muslims females I know would identify w/ it.

Some Christian and Jewish leaders get along well but the Muslims haven't come into this yet. It's funny just because we have different names for the same Creator, doesn't mean we have to differ so much. I mean actually Christians differ more than Jews do from Muslims really yet they don't see it this way. ( In that Christians believe Jesus is the son of God and the other two see him as a prophet )

LOL! You said Political allies!
Not Religious allies.
I am Christian, but i like women.
Jews do too.
And before 911 those Muslims were in a strip club ... so I guesss they like women too.
Homosexuality is a way of life for all people.
Doesn't mean you change the meaning of marriage though
They won't go away.
And alcohol?
Please!
The Muslims love it as much as the Christians or Jews.
Do you think the 911 terrorists were drinking punch at the strip club?

Wow you are ignorant. The extreme muslims want to kill everyone else, the extreme Jews want to be left alone, and the extreme Christians want to spread the Good News.

Other than that, the Jews and Christians get along fine in Jerusalem. Most Christians care about modesty, but not anywhere near "burkas" It is very reasonable, in fact. They don't like girls dressing like whores.

Most Christians I know drink alchohal. In fact, read about the Eucharist. You might say drinking alcohal is required.

And most Christian who disagree with homosexuals is becasue they believe that marriage is a sacrament, a gift from God. They beleive it is between a man and a woman.

Don't know enough about Islam and Judaism to represent their side.

You might want to reaserch a religion before makeing sweeping generalizations about it. Look out, your bigotry is showing.

No, Israel does not want to be left alone. They want to kill their enemies and take their lands just as much as they accuse the Muslims of wanting to do to them. And I'm beginning to wonder about the company I'm keeping with some of my Christian brothers and sisters who seem to endorse these kinds of actions as well. Must be those who are still trying to justify their actions by inappropriately quoting the Old Testament forgetting any of the teachings of Christ. He certainly was not an advocate of war or violence. In fact what did he say one should do if his enemy struck his left cheek - what - he should offer him his right. As for Israel - here we go again.....

On the Innocent Slaughter of Children
Wednesday, August 02, 2006
The committee of Jewish rabbis in the West Bank settlements issued a Jewish religious edict permitting the IOF troops to kill women and children in Lebanon and Gaza Strip without reservations, according to the Hebrew Yedioth Ahronoth website.
The website quoted the rabbis as saying that the edict was based on the Torah teaching, adding "Any Israeli soldier showing mercy towards children in Lebanon and Palestine is implicitly merciless towards Israel's children". The edict was published at the backdrop of the current Israeli intensive war on Lebanon.

Yesha Rabbinical Council: During time of war, enemy has no innocents. The Yesha Rabbinical Council announced in response to an IDF attack in Kfar Qanna that "according to Jewish law, during a time of battle and war, there is no such term as 'innocents' of the enemy." All of the discussions on Christian morality are weakening the spirit of the army and the nation and are costing us in the blood of our soldiers and civilians," the statement said. (Efrat Weiss)

Well, when you think about it, all 3 have been fighting for years.
Jews believe that Messiah hasn't come, Christians believe Messiah came and Muslims believe Messiah came and Mohammad is the prophet. Now if they can't agree on who came and didn't come and who is suppose to tell the story, then what makes you believe they can agree on anything else?

Our founding fathers said they wanted state seperate from religion. But what has most of the wars of the world has been about? RELIGION!!!

Because the Jews don't think Jesus was their saviour, the Muslims don't think Jesus was divine, the Christians don't believe Mohammed rode to heaven on a chariot of fire, blah blah blah etc etc. Despite the fact that it's more or less the same religion they fight, it's more of a cultural thing really.

Many religious leaders like to make enemies of others so that they may control their respective followers. They use fear and hate to promote their own wealth and power. They appeal to the worst traits in humanity and exploit the people who trust them most.

The short answer is money and power.

In the U.S. i'm sure that most religeous types are allies of a sort, at least
during election time. Other than that, each think they are the TRUE beleivers and those that don't agree with their tenet are morally inferior.

I think there fundamental differences in religion makes them opposed, to one another....Its not so cut and dry....

The differences go back to the beginning of time....Each religion has very different concepts of God....Its too complicated to get into it here...
