Tony Blair said it best "you judge a country's character best by how many people are trying to get in."

I'll assume you've spent alot of time in other countries and you're not just regurgitating what other patriotic people spout.
Yeah, the world loved us after WW2. That was awhile ago. We don't report in the media all the countries we let down. There are genocides going on right now and we're fighting for oil. Believe me, theres so much more out there, we're NOT as helpful as some would have you believe.
We need to work hard to be the best and harder to stay the best.
It's not hate when people critisize our country. The freedom to stand up and demand changes for the better is what this country was founded on.....After we stole it from the natives.

« Now I will admit the United States has done things in our past that can be considered a mistake.”
The problem is that most Americans don’t want to admit US’s mistakes as you are humbly doing. And keep thinking that every country in the world is wrong but US.
Maybe this lack of humility generates so much hate. Nations in the world only want to think by themselves and will hate US as long as US will think it is the only owner of the truth and will imposes its truth to the rest of the world.
As concerned humbly American people, we do not hate them. Arrogance is hated.

I agree with you totally! As long as we are helping with money, medical supplies, food, etc. than we are just the greatest! But I we are not then we are the worst nation ever! They say we are rich and spoiled! Well what if we stopped giving altogether? Then what would probably happen is we would have more attacks like we have had before! So who would be the selfish ones then?

Well, the rest of the world, and there is a huge world out there, doesn't really think so. We do want to police the world and oppose our system of govt there....A truly great nation would never do that, we would lead by example.....just a thought.

As long as you supply them everything is great! Simple characteristic of a loser nation! But that is how it was, how it is and how it always will be! No surprises there...
