Criminal suspects do NOT want to be identified on cam not just on "Cops", but they tend to hide from TV local and world news cameras as well. It's futile for the guilty, for after their conviction, their face and prison sentencing information pretty much goes on public record.

As for talking to the camera crews on "Cops", that's an ill advised thing to do for obivious legal reasons. Any criminal defense lawyer will immediately advise a prospective client of keeping silent---which is a right of the one arrested.

They're trying to avoid the @ss kicking from the police. A camera isn't going to jump you and choke you. Or tazer you or beat you with sticks or gun you down.
