Here is the thing--Madonna has always been over the top in her career. Remember the video for Like a Prayer? She has done it all--people expect her to be controversial. It's old news when she actually does it nowadays.

Mel Gibson, that is different. He isn't known for offending people in that way, so it makes news. The media will not back off with Mel because Hollywood really enjoys watching a big star take a hard fall. Plus add to the fact that Mel made a lot of press when he did Passion of the Christ--and there was some rumblings about Jewish people and whatnot when that movie came out. If it sells magazines and ad time on TV, the story won't die any time soon.

She has been getting in trouble with the Catholic Church, but her actions are for shock value and people are used to it since she's been doing it her whole career. Mel's comments were hateful and this wasn't the first time he's said something bigoted.

That was wrong for Madonna to do that. She's not god. Ever since she's done that, I haven't been a fan of hers anymore.

I think what she does in her stage acts is her own business. I dont think in any way she meant to offend people. Everyone has a right to their own beliefs.
