listen,my girlfriend has been going through a lot of depression lately, and we walked outside to get a pack of cigarettes and she saw a black shadowy winged figure running down the road, she saw it for a good 20-30 feet, it didn't look directly at us, it just ran down the street, we drove down the road it was on and saw nothing, she has never seen the movie or looked into anything about it, so i had her draw it for me, it was identical to a lot of other mothman drawings... someone please tell me what is going on

The Mothman is a fascinating figure in American folklore, and contrary to popular belief, it doesn't always fortell doom and destruction. It is an apocalyptic figure however, in that an apocalypse is often just a change in life NOT an end to it; but I wouldn't worry myself into a paranoid froth if I "saw" something like that. Oh, I'd be freaked, probably scared, but just knowing a myth or folktale sometimes give it power over you. I read Tarot cards and the first thing I learned in reading is never predict death or doom, becuase if you do that, the person listening to you will probably FIND ways to die or bring doom onto themselves. So just like with Tarot cards, don't take responsibility for bad things that could potentially happen. Just chalk the experience up to your friend tapping into the mass unconsciousness and maybe receiving a sign that she needs to change something in her life. Maybe she needs to find the cause of her depression and fix it. Maybe she needs to change her environment all together and just MOVE to another home far, far away.

I have seen many things that COULD have been either the mothman, the Ancient Egyptian devourer of the unjustified, and even a cat with Adolph Hitler's moustache. What did these things mean to me? Freaky stuff...stuff to write stories about...stuff to make me think about what I am doing with my life and where I want my life to go, and I think that no matter what, premonitions serve precisely THAT purpose, and as long as we make sure that our lives mean something, at least to ourselves, then we have nothing to worry about.

I am no expert, but as far as what's going on, I think your friend's subconscious mind is telling her to change something for the good in her life. She's begging herself for help, and since she's the only one who knows exactly what she needs, she's the only one who can get it for herself. As you are her friend, my advice is for you to be there for her. Don't go scaring her with stories blurred together in order to make a pretty cool movie with an awesome soundtrack. Instead focus on the OTHER aspects of the mothman folktales and tell her that she needs to look at what's not right in her life and try to fix it. Tell her to seize happiness in every situation that she can, and most of all, if there are people who love her, remind her of that and tell her to draw strength from those people.

the mothman prophecies were real honey. they make it seem like fiction, but a relative told me their friend saw it before they made the movie. it was most likely that. i come from a long line of psychics, real ones. thats what it was, i have seen all kinds of things nobody believes. but i dont think you have anyting to worry about. premonitions are fore knowledge of something that will happen. I would say whatever is upsetting her she is projecting that image from her own upset, like poltergiests are actually energy projections mostly from kids and teens who are going through some sort of emotional turmoil. they put all of their fear and anger into a projected form. its totally unconscious that they are doing it so they are shocked and as afraid as others are. i think she needs to talk to someone about her problems.
