I have eczema that flairs up from time to time and in varying degrees of seriousness. Eczema is patches of rough, dry, scaly skin. It can cover small areas of skin to the entire body. It's an uncomfortable condition that itches and flakes and hurts sometimes. As far as I've been told, there is no way to overcome it. There are ways to treat it when it crops up, such as the Aveeno Oatmeal soaps and bath stuff. There's also lotions and creams on the market that will help ease the discomfort of either eczema or psoriasis. I also was treated with a form of steroids during one of my more serious bouts with it. It all depends on the treatment that your doctor or dermatologist recommends.

As for a description of it i think the last person to answer before hit the nail on the head. When i was first diagnosed with eczema i was about 8 or 9 and it covered everything my arms my neck my legs. I would wear long sleeved shirts during the summer time until finally i stopped being ashamed of it .. during the same time my doctor prescribed to me hydracortizone cream a topical cream that soothed the itchy patches and was applied 3 times daily. My eczema cleared up completely a couple months after that.

I had a family member who had both eczema & psoriasis very bad as a child, itchy, flaky, burning skin. I remember oatmeal being the key. Everyday he would take baths & put oatmeal in the bath (regular Quaker Oatmeal) and both the eczema & psoriasis cleared up. He was instructed to do this treatment by a Dr. and it worked.

"Eczema and psoriasis" Wow, This is extensive......This is a theme for medical students, However, with psoriasis, it's necessary to take a look and discuss your history, I highly recommend you to visit a certified dermatologist.
