two young hunters went out from their village in the disatnce they saw a white buffalo coming towards them when it got closer it transformed into abeautiful woman, one of the braves had impure thoughts and made an improper move toward the woman he was blown into dust. she told the honorable brave to go and prepare the tribe for her arrival. when she arrived later she bore the peace pipe. she taught the ceremonial smoking gave the tribe their laws and then disappeared back into the prarie..............this is a cliffnote version of the legend. there are many wonderful books on the subject.brooke medicine eagle has a wonderful book called buffalo woman comes singing. it was prophecied that the birth of a white buffalo calf would signal renewed prosperity for the tribe after a time of famine decimation which is why the hoopla over miracle(the white buffalo) a few years ago. as a matter of fact there was another white buffalo born june 4 this year. she was the 8th at one farm,they named her little dream walker..................may you always walk in beauty
