thats balon*y! all the govts should allow the use of any alternative MACHINES....cars or industrial that uses fuel aside from crude oil, are they afraid of OPEC, or transport manufacturers for that matter? Competition between manufacturers of alternative machines and fuel shud be encourage, we cannot depend on monopolized products as we have so much options.

The price of oil has not changed much. What we are experiencing is the lowering of the value of the dollar.

If you look at the run up in price for other commodities (gold, real estate etc..) you will see that the price of oil as it relates to the price of gold is somewhat the same.

The reason oil seems more expensive is because the dollar is becoming less able to purchase it. This is due to several factors including our trade problem (look for something MADE in the U.S.) and our credit spending. These things make our money worth less.

Another limiting factor is our ability to explore for more oil. The so-called "environmental" movement (funded by petro dollars) has put a stop to new development. It is also thought that oil may be in a far greater supply than was originally thought and that supplies are being restricted through big business (in the same way that diamonds are artificially propped up in value).

Yep, Oil will probably be "worth" more than 100 bucks a barrel soon.

The legislators in this country only care about money. A powerful lobby in this country (guess who) put the electric car out of comission. This is the obvious answer but no one is stopping Exxon from using it's capitalist fist to crush the people looking after your future

I've heard that oil is going to $100 per barrel and gas is gonna be $10 per gallon till I'm sick of it!! When/if it happens, it happens. If you don't want to pay it, don't. Get a bike, walk, ride public transportatioin, do whatever, just get over it. Life is too short to be worrying all the time about the price of oil/gas.
