That is in memory of his uncle the original Shiek who wrestled with the WWE and other promotions although I don't know which ones. I believe he held the WWE Title at one time. He is most famous though for being the trainer of Sabu and Raven.

Sabu's famous signature gesture is pointing to the sky while looking upwards, especially when entering or exiting the ring, or before performing an especially dangerous move. It was once explained that Sabu's trademark point to the lights comes from his gimmick of being a "savage"; he is amazed by the lights and is pointing at them.
