Steve Harris, the bass player from iron maiden. all their songs are rooted in the worlds history of war, mythology, religion, literature, horror, etc, and all set to music. people tend to dismiss heavy metal of that sort as being brainless, but i seriously remember how easy it was for me to remember things in history because of those songs.....

anyhow, he writes the lyrics, and they've definitely got a kinda creepy Poe vibe to them. not quite the same, but its in that same ballpark. read their lyrics, a lot if is the same stuff poe used to think about.

Without a doubt,Stephen King is the re-incarnation of Poe.No other writes with the sense of horror created by these two.The slasher / gore stuff is easy, creating a genuine feeling of horror is an true art that they share.
