~And why should he be. For losing an illegal war to superior invading forces who, in violation of any number of international laws and treaties violated the sovereignty of his borders under the pretext that he still had weapons of mass destruction that had been given to him ten years earlier by the US? (Incidentally, if anyone really that those weapons existed, why were no precautions taken to protect the troops from bios and chems and nukes. No need to protect against imagination, right.)

I suppose no trial should be necessary. After all, a guilty verdict could be used as precedent againt Georgie the younger if anyone ever really looks into Gitmo and the other summer camps he's set up.

In the meantime, given current US foreign policy which has directly resulted in Pakistan, North Korea and India resuming their nuke programs among other things, and the sentiment that policy is fostering across the globe - even with US allies - I strongly recommend that if you live near a tall building, move (and hit the floor whenever you hear a plane flying over.)

Saddam should not be killed. For you see, the war in which he was captured was an illegal war. It was not sanctioned by the United Nations and therefore, it is an illegal war. If a person in America is arrested, but the arrest was not conducted in a lawful manner, the person would be found innocent by a reasonable judge and jury, no matter the nature of the crime. Not only should Saddam be declared innocent, he should not be put to death. An eye for an eye is the most basic form of retribution and should not be carried out. In order to be for the death penalty, you must believe that it is OK to kill a human being. Not only criminals, but every human being. Would you kill your neighbor, or child? No, because it is just wrong.

Personally, if I was a judge or a lawyer, I would go for life in prison. Why not give Saddam and every other criminal that has killed people in the past their entire life to reflect on what they have done wrong.

An additional note. America really royally screwed themselves by going to war with Saddam. Sure he was cruel, but he was friendly to the United States. He kept the oil flowing through Iraq, and kept the people silent with his dictatorship.

Final thought. The best way for America to fix everything would be to put Saddam back in power. He seems to be the only person who is capable of running the country of Iraq.

If you believe that Saddam should be killed, you are an uninformed (probably hardcore christian) bigot.

The USA is scared that if they kill him that the american people would blame them for injustice and BS like that! just like all of those prison problems and other stuff! the people that are against the war are trying to find every little thing to have against the US government just to start big problems here at home! which is by far one of the most useless thing to do and just plain stupid! I say we cut one his foot off and then put salt on it and then make him walk on it in the desert! then after that we cut his hands off and then make him put it in hot water once in a while! then I say we let some small kinds of animal just start eating him slowly and painfully because all the blood and flesh would attract little bugs and creatures! some say that is TOO much for him and what not, but what I have just said has been done to thousands of his own people for lets say not winning at a soccer game or whatever or they didn't give up thier belongings and gold to Saddam's gaurds or whatever! Saddam was our 20th and 21st century Hitler! Hitler was a good boy compared to what saddam has done! I still wonder why they haven't let him rot to death in a small cell or something or just release him to the Iraqi and have him tied up and everybody gets a chance to hurt him!

I bet you there are millions of other people that want the same like me for saddam! I mean people hate him sooo much that they found a way to kill his lawyers and defense team, just because they were defending the POS SOB!

and I just read those SOB's comments like kevin and the others that think that Saddam should be released and back into power! well let me tell all of those SOB's! If you haven't been born in Iraq and haven't been under his power then you should just go shoot yourself in the head RIGHT now period. Unless your a terrorist that follows what saddam did and then you could say Bull$hit like that which most definitely nobody cares about! DON"T EVER EVER say it was an illegal WAR! F*ck*ng Bull$hit!

maybe you should go to Iraq right now and ask the citizen's not the terrorists, back there how they feel about releasing him and what to do to him! how about that?

He is undergoing a supposedly fair trial...something which supposedly gives whatever fate he gets the aura of fair justice (which he never gave to the Shiites and Kurds). And you know how trials can get long tedious and boring etc.

In the end though this is a question that should be asked of the Iraqi people...they can tell you with much more crystal clarity whether Saddam should be set free, given life imprisonment or grenadiered in his spider hole...

Because if the new Iraq wants to look like a civilized country for the rest of World, then it must give a fair trial to this guy. If this guy dies mysteriously could happen this

1)This could give one more motive to extremists to attack US and their allies because Sadam would be considered a martyr
2)Obviously Iraq's new government would look bad because they would be doing the same things than Sadam used to do: dissapear people unfairly, without a trial.

Just have patience and this guy will have what he deserves.

They are keeping him, to assure that Bush's way to hell won't be too lonely...
Saddam called your judge, and whomever he represents, a dog, and he was 100% wrong... dogs are nice, brave animals. This trial is the top of hypocrisy of our F*** civilization.

Oh, congratulations! You are a typical American blockhead. I would suggest, to get a gun and to try to kill him yourself, ask people above and below my answer,to join you... give a sense to your worthless life... step on the American Way....!?

damn good question... the western powers seem to think that they must have some kind of trial to prove he was guilty of all those crimes. he will die, be sure of that.. it's just a sad case though he was found in a hole trapped likea rat with a gun but like all cowards couldn't do it. if I had been the guy to catch him I would put a cap in his @ss and said he was going to shoot me.
