My boyfriend makes A WHOLe lot of money so I am not worried about money to much but is that enough to have saved or should I have saved more. I save money well but I am independent and I have to pay for everything I am going to nursing school. I am just nervous thats all.

I agree that the boyfriend should help, but you need to check into a couple of other options too. Call social services and ask them to send you an application for medicaid since you are pregnant. I know asking for government help is typically something most of us wouldn't do but trust me. It is a simple application, you can have private insurance and just have medicaid pick up the copays, deductibles, etc. Most people qualify but never apply. My husband and I had private insurance but I applied anyhow and he does have a good paying job. Lucky for us I did because I had a complicated pregnancy and $40,000 in medical bills, and a funeral for the baby to add on top of it and that was just a 26 weeks long pregnancy. I know the average delivery is now about $5,000 but are you prepared if things aren't average? Also since you are single apply for WIC to help get baby formula, milk, cereal etc. You can get it when you are pregnant and nursing too. In my opinion we pay taxes to support these programs so why can't we use them to get some of are money back. Also WIC is given to any and all who meet requirements so you aren't taking someone elses spot.

Depends on what the $3000 is for. Do you have medical insurance? Do you have to pay for a place to live?

You are going to need lots of stuff for the baby. Crib, clothes, diapers, formula, etc.

$3000 is A LOT better than many people have. Good job!

there is NeVEr going to be "enough" money for having a child. It also depends on how well you want to live. have you already started buying baby stuff?? Me? i would've saved more cuz it'll fly by prolly even before the baby is here. You have to buy TonS of stuff to be ready. well, i guess not. We're back again to how well do u want to live?....

its enough to start, but let your bf handle the baby stuff and keep saving your money, put it in a high yeild saving account or a cd.

The boyfriend should be contributing. Put a halt to his expense account right away dear. OK?

Sorry but $3,000 is probably not enough. Do you have healthcare? I'd do everything you can to make sure that you baby is healthy.
