From reptiles? Maybe you are in the wrong area to post your question. Regardless, the answer depends on the people themselves and their mental/emtional strength.

you know its really individual, some kids just dont mature as fast as others and even as teens need protection from things others just wouldnt worry about, and many people over 65 become mentally as well as physically fragile, you really have to take every human as an individual and treat them as they need . my daughter needed me right up till she was 19 or so, and even after that she still had lots of concerns she needed me for, at about 30 she finally managed to make a good break, but it was because her first two short lived marriages were disasters, when she finally found the right man then she could let go of mom a lot more. Richard is almost 75. He needs some help these days with very physical jobs, but he just helped a neighbor repair the roof of our house in hundred degree weather. ofcourse he was drained for a couple days after that and i would never let him try that alone because he does get a bit dizzy, as we age we do lose our balance a lot. but when i first came here he found out he had lung cancer, and he needed me for physical help, cooking and cleaning, but even more because he was always very healthy, and this was one of the first times he had to deal with the fact that hes not a man of steel. still i wouldnt want to say he needs protection from others, unless its more than one, then no one can really back down a group, unless its with his double barrelled shotgun. so you cant just say its a blanket answer. as in most things, people and animals are individual and should be treated that way. Blessed Be
