"3A" is a surface finish and cleanability measurement and approval standard for the inside surfaces of process equipment. Basically put, The alcohol was distilled using stainless steel equipment that was checked for a certain smoothness on the inside prior to assembly and use. This is to ensure that all of the eqiupment can be cleaned without being taken apart. This is called "clean in place" or CIP. It has no bearing on the finished product. It only guarantees that each batch is as clean as the last as far as federal standards are concerned.
