I am so tired of gasoline prices spiraling out of control while the oil companies continue to report record profits that I could scream. What are they doing with all that money? They certainly aren't drilling for more oil here in the states. Meanwhile, we continue to be held as energy consuming hostages by those towel heads over there in the Mid East and other places such as Venezuala. Every time we fill up at the pump we are funding the drug trade run by Hugo Chavez, or the terror campaign headed up by people such as Osama bin Laden. When are we gonna get are heads out of our a**** and fix this mess? If it isn't already, it just may be too late.

The gasoline woke up one morning, saw its price and jumped, just like the rest of us.

A number of years ago when gasoline prices were escalating, there was a very successful campaign in which everyone in the country REFUSED TO PURCHASE GASOLINE FOR JUST ONE DAY. The brief boycott worked.

The oil companies realized that they depend on US to make their money, and the loss of revenue that only one day created was enough to bring the prices back down. I'm surprised I've seen nothing on the web about doing this again.

For me? I drove a honkin' hunker of a car. But no more. I just purchased a Kymco GrandVista scooter that will get anywhere from 60 to 80 miles per gallon of gasoline. On the days that I can't ride it, I'll take public transit (such as it is where I live). Either way, I'm saving tons of money AND doing my little bit to help the environment as well. (I should add this will happen when I learn not to tip over. This scooter is heavier than I thought!) :)

I say we again boycott for one day. Let's see what the Oil Misers will do these days!

Best Wishes!

It's really all about the stockholders (of the mega-oilopolies). You get certain expectations when you've been making so much profit. They say a business is dying if it's not growing so naturally the oil companies must come up with a way to increase profits. Raising gas prices seems like a really easy thing since there's not a damn thing you or I can do about it (except beetch and moan) while W and Dick are in office. The bright side is the faster prices go up, the more intense the demand for energy efficient solutions like hybrids. Not much of a bright side for SUV owners (I own 2).

Because we allow it, and they know they can get away with it. It won't stop, until we do something about it. Complain to your state's attorney general, it's an election year, maybe he/she will do something about it. If everyone would start b******g, and write to our leaders, we can get a lot done. If everyone would not buy any gas for three days, I'd wager prices would come down. But we'd all have to do this on the same days for it to work.

Yikes!!!! Today, gas prices jumped up there again. $1.10 in a couple hours. Ridiculous. Greedy GOP, (Grand Oil Party) I'm writing to Gdubya, this has to stop. They're trying to starve us out, and we better vote them out.

We are not hostages to "towel heads", we are hostages to our own companies: i.e. Exxon, Mobil, etc. Since my vote doesnt count and my representatives dont respond and protesting doesnt work, the only thing I CAN do is boycott Exxon. They are the leaders in the oil business, why they cant convert to ethanol is beyond me. They can be the leaders in ethanol if they want to and stop this stupidity and dependence on oil. But you are right, it's probably too late.

Honey when an oil man is elected president, what did you think would happen! I heard the other day that they were predicting that gas would be $5 a gallon by the time Bush is out.
