Most of the time allergies do... although sometimes lack of sleep can also do that.
You can get allergy pills such as zyrtec
There are makeups to hide it
There are medications to lighten them

blood vessels break causing the blood to precipitate to the surface. Making it seem dark and all.
What you could do about it is start sleeping well for starters. Then google "dark circles under the eyes" and click on one of the million solutions that appear there. Or look it up in the Yellow Pages.
Yeah, baby!!

wide dark circles are caused by a deficiency in iron and other nutrients. Pamper your eyes to dark circle creams but if they are really dark (as mine are)know that you will have to get sleep and eat right and when they show up like a mask put makeup on but also check with your doctor to make sure you have no underlying cause that will make them worse if not treated

Dark circles can be a result of allergies, lack of sleep, or hereditary (a condition known as hyperpigmentation).
If the dark circles are not hereditary, then try placing cucumbers on your eyes while sleeping. The coolness of the cucumber will reduce swolleness and general help you sleep better.

mostly it's due to lack of sleep. using your eyes a lot (of course, by being awake a lot) means you need adequate amounts of oxygen which is transported through the blood. so possible lack of oxygen as well as dehydration (which affects blood volume) are factors for dark circles under the eyes. for a quick fix, if you do drink tea, don't throw the tea bags away. put it on your eyes while having a quick nap. of course, don't put it while it's still hot. if you also have puffy eyes, put some ice on your eyes.

lack of sleep is the most common reason behind dark circles.. best solution hence wud be to get proper sleep time...6 hours of sleep for adults is normal.

Dark cicles under the eyes can be caused by dairy allergies or a stressed liver.
Sleep deprivation can also be a contributing factor.
