Sperm travel at approximately 35 µm/s (micrometers per second). This is equivalent to 2/3 of the length of their body per second.
In terms of body length, this is like a salmon swimming at 1 mph, or a sperm whale swimming at 27 mph. Not that speedy, actually.
Their actual speed - not accounting for their diminutive size - is around 5 inches/hour.
