I'm a single mom who happens to be totally in love with their bestfriend. The deal is I don't just love him, my 3 year old daughter does too. She doesn't have a father in her life and it means everything to me to see them together. I know if he inlists in the army their is a big chance I might not see him again for a long time. Is it wrong for me to confess my true feelings and ask him to stay?

Yes, you are self-fish. Let him serve the country and give us freedom.

It will be selfishness if your bestfriend career is very important to him. You can tell him how you feel about the enlist but you have to respect his decision and give him your full support. Don't be scared that's part of having a partner in a military. All you need to do is just let him know and feel that you love him so much .

I would certainly ask him to stay. Tell him he means the world to you and your daughter. I wouldn't tell him your feelings yet. He has a lot to think about. There is a war going on and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. My cousin enlisted two years ago and they said he would never see Iraq, well he's going there September of 2007.

I think it IS his desion whether he should go or not. SO tell him WHY you don't want him to go. Make it sound sympathetic, but not sappy. Make sure you give specific details. Don't leave a thing out. Tell him you love him and you couldn't live just knowing he's going to a very risky place, but you respect the fact he wants to help the country. That's what I would do.

He is doing a selfless thing by enlisting, honoring our country and the Freedom we cherish.
He needs to know how you feel, but do NOT stop him from being a MAN an doing his service, you will be far better for the sacrifice and when he returns, he will be a better man for you.
Support and honor him.
