prenatal vitamins give you the iron you need to help develop a healthy baby. But they made me ill all the time-- so my doctor told me to use Flinstones. I suggest eating and taking the pills. I took them after dinner-my biggest meal of the day. Good luck

Take the prenatal vitamins--VERY important. However, the ones from the health food store are better balanced and more useful for the baby; it's just that you can't get them with Medicaid or insurance. It won't be so bad to have waited a quarter of the way through your pregnancy--I think the second trimester is the most important.

I had the exact same problem when I was pregnant. I took the vitamin in the morning and usually ended up feeling sick or throwing up. I started taking it in the evening after dinner and I was fine. If you find that doesn't work then don't take the vitamin and just make sure you are eating a well balanced diet and your baby will be fine.

Yes, women gave birth to babies for thousands of years without vitamins. You have not harmed your baby. Taking vitamins is just another way of taking care. I could not keep them down for my first three months and you will be happy to know I have a healthy happy 14 year old who is in the gifted and talented program. Relax, its sounds like you have been trying your best, just take the vitamins from now on and do not beat yourself up.
