Just because marriage is supposed to be a sacred thing and blessed by God in a church.... But there's no reason for anyone to get angry about not doing it that way. I have relatives who had a non religious wedding and nobody said anything about theirs.... I don't see the big deal.

Because you're talking to the wrong people. What you and your husband choose to do by way of marriage is entirely up to you. Marriage is something that 2 people do if they love each other and plan on spending the rest of their lives together, who cares whether it's religious or not?

Because marriage, to most, is a religious ceremony, which must not be changed according to their views; its Holy Matrimony; in other words, godly. Personally, all a wedding needs is true love.

Because in their eyes you are living in sin. Your wedding was not conducted under the eyes of God nor blesses by a priest.

Don't worry, as long as you work at it, you don't need a religous wedding for a successful marriage.

As long as you do what you feel is right, it's really nobody's business.

I got married by a Judge. A courtroom wedding is just as legal as a church wedding by a minister or priest.

Cherry, my feelings on this are that if you are religious, it would make sense to have a wedding ceremony in your faith. But if you don't believe inthat, it would be more wrong to pretend to be something you are not.

I'm "religious" but I totally respect you for making your choices.
