Im 19 and JUST got on it...dont let the excuse of cramps make you get on the pill..its something that has to be taken serious. You have to make sure you take this tiny pill at the same time everyday or you may get pregant. But if you really want it to reduce cramps then its great for that also. It could also make you period shorter. But even if on the pill you still need protection. Cause birth control only prevents child birth not std's or aids!

the best way to protect yourself... is to NOT JUST protect yourself from pregnancy.

i don't wanna rant and rave, but the truth is, STDs are far more prevalent than anyone wants to talk about. herpes affects about 1 out of 5 sexually active people; HPV (the virus that causes both genital warts & cervical cancer) affects up to 75%. the scary things about herpes and HPV are:

a) you can still get either of them when a person isn't having an outbreak
b) condoms do, as they say, "help reduce your risk," but even condoms don't protect against these viruses entirely, since they're spread by skin-to-skin contact (not by fluid transmission as with HIV, for example).

there's HIV, herpes, HPV (the one *nobody* ever talks about, mainly because it primarily affects girls/women!), and others.

i'm not gonna be just another adult telling you not to have sex, because you obviously already have.... but as someone with a little more experience (i'm 28), ideally i'd like to save you from the misery of some of the things that are so avoidable -- and believe me, anyone can get them, and easily.

HPV is actually the fastest growing STD among girls in your age group.

the pill carries its own risks, as does any medication. anyway, if you want a birth control pill, that's a choice you'll have to make, but first and foremost, please ALWAYS use a condom. like, for each and every time!! because it only takes one time -- for pregnancy OR an STD. and some STDs (like a diamond...lol) are forever -- which is a long time when you start at 15.

take care, and i wish you fun and safety. :)

For starters in my opinion you are too young to be having sex and needing birth control, but if you are going to be you really should talk with your parents let them help you with this. With the time of the month other meds can be prescribed for that problem dont just use that time of the month as an excuse to get birth control. I hope that you will discuss this with your parents or some type of an adult that can help you. good luck.

See, I'm only 12 but when i'm older i plan to get birth control at 17.In my eyes that is to young and i know i am young and my oppinion does not matter much but that is what i think and everyone in America has the right to speak their minds.I think 17 is a perfect, and oh my goodness not that it is gross but isn't 15 a little young to have sex.Well i guess if it is with someone you love then age does not matter.Well i'm sure you probably will glance at that sentence that says i am 12 and not read it but i just thought i would help. :)

Have you talked to your parent(s) about this? If you can't, try to find out if there is a planned parenthood center anywhere around you. They will do a pap test and usually they give you your first 1-3 packs of pills right there. They also tell you to come back after those pills are all and get the next 3 packs.Or you can talk to your P.C.P. ( family doctor) they will be able to help you or refer you to someone who can. Planned parenthood is like a free clinic.

Ask your mom or parent to have you put on birth control. If you don't want that there are clinics and stuff that can help you out, but i suggest talking to a parent. My mom forced me to be on it so i never had 2 deal with this situation (thank God)

That willl mess up your body. I was on birth control when I was 15 and almost died. Don't do it. Did you know that if you have sex very young, you are putting yourself at risk for cervical cancer? It's true.

Stop having sex, you have enough to worry about at 15. Your periods will get better the older you get.

You can legally go to a free clinic and obtain birth control. The number for the health department in your area is in the phone book. Please go in, get tested, and be safe.
