The thing is this, he's suppose to migrate but it's taking forever. He does't want to jepordize that by marrying me. We've been together for 8 years and have a child now. I want to us to be legal in the sight of God is that wrong? Should I wait because of love?

Immigration can take a long time, and the visa classification will change if he gets married. It may add years to his wait.

You didnt say if both of you are together, or are your or he is in a foriegn country.

I think it takes about 5 years to become a citizen, not really sure.
Once he is a citizen, he can marry you and bring you over in 6mo or less. ( if you are the one in a foreign country for example).

But getting married will change the visa status, he might have to start over, 10 years for some countries. The system is unfair.

Migration is a very tricky business. If he married you now he would have to start the whole process all over again. If you believe in him you should wait until this is settled.

You know what they say, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.

If he doesn't want to - he's not going to. You're going to have to live with that or move on with your life.
