Mexico has lots of oil and could be beneficial to the United States and create jobs for Mexicans. I don’t understand why we don’t work closer with our neighbor. If Mexicans were able to provide better for their families in Mexico, then there would be less Mexicans crossing the border. AND America benefits too by, depending less on the Middle East. Seems like a Win-Win to me.

This is why I mention Puerto Rico.
http://www.puertoricousa.com/

It states:
The success of the Puerto Rico of today is in the greatest part the result of what has happened in the last one hundred years in co-existence and working together with the greatest nation of all, the United States of America.

Oil is about making money. Obviously there are ways to live without it.

Mexico presents several problems. First the amount of corruption and the incapability of the government to rid itself of the problem. Secondly, we have tried working with the Mexican government about drugs and met corruption, a stone-wall and deaths of our agents. Mexico supplies about 95% of the illegal drugs. The oil fields are not so vast as people are told. Altogether, it would be a lose-lose situation.

Why don't you ask the Mexican government why it does not manage Mexico so that its people can have a decent life?

They have oil, so many cannot be an issue! America does not need Middle East oil! We do need to insulate all buildings so that we do not wast energy heating and cooling them.

The capability to run cars on other fuels have existed for years, that has to do with who is making money, not what we can do.

Why do we sell the oil out of Alaska to Japan, or did you know that we built the Alaskan Pipe Line.

Why should this country play favorites about who can come in?

We have quotas for each country, and the lines are long.

You should learn something about your country before you began to criticize it.

Apparently it doesn't seem like a win-win to -someone- because it's obviously not being done. You're not in politics, don't attempt to make new policies until you understand why they haven't been made before. Also, the U.S. and Puerto Rico don't have the same history of wars that the U.S. and Mexico does. There's been a lot of blood spilled on the southern border.

I dont care how much money we pump into Mexico by buying their oil or otherwise, Mexicans will still cross the border in search of justice. It's not only abt jobs or economic advancement. The poor in Mexico are badly treated by their on government... Any money goes to the enrich the already rich and the poor dont benefit. Mexico is a corrupt country in many ways... It doesn't compare with PR--a US commonwealth.

The Mexican people could provide for their families if their government wasn't so corrupt. Vincente Fox was an honest person, but he couldn't clean up every mayor who wanted to turn his town into a private kingdom. Why is this the fault of the US? We get involved in enough stuff where we don't belong, why do you want us there?
Puerto Rico is a territory of the US, so we work with them, it's like another state.

HUH?
I don't get what PR has to do with this? We already do buy oil from Mexico and Canada. Most of the Mid East oil really does not go to the US. Markets in Asia and Europe do though. If Mexico's new president can clean up his nation? Maybe people will stay there.

Because Mexico is an "independent" country where as Puerto Rico is one of our territories since the Spanish-American wars.

I agree. I have always felt that American firms should not send jobs overseas to communist China, but rather across the border to Mexico. If there are good jobs at home, Mexicans will not have to cross the border to America illegally to look for work.

The thing is that...

we can't support mexicans, they work hard than us, paid less than than us, with higher academic degrees, mexico is not a land of indians, they have colleges, with masters abroad, if we give them just one chance and they'll win.

don't think that mexico is a land of loosers, i have seen people from mexico sent to far away as germany, france, asia, to learn from them.

they're our very nicest friends, they buy anything that come from us.

you should see how a mexican dress in levi's, tommy, nike, ray ban, act like, they feel far more important, like an american driving a ferrari...

USA already have some benefits.

I live in a border city and there are many factories (maquiladoras) in my city from many countries like Japan, Korea, Germand and USA.

They pay the minimun wage for the employess specially for the one that work in a production area, and they have really good employess.

I hope that usa dont want our oil also, since they already have electricty also from us !!!

ITs not a win-win !!!
