There's a club called Check Yo' Ponytail that is 18+. It's on TUESDAYS at Safari Sam's (on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, by the 99 Cent Store).
Cover is $5 for 21+, $10 for 18-20.
FREE BEER (Coors Light, but hey, it's free!) 10pm-11pm.
They have live bands, and a few DJs spinning new wave and indie. It's definitely an emo hipster sort of scene.

Whats the big deal about getting drunk on your 21st? Now that your of a legal age, get a credit card, or better yet, buy a car on time. This is the first day of your adult life go do something responsible unless of course your an idiot that follows the failures of others as your life choices. An awful lot of children do and remain children even when their fourty. Now Fifty is the Birthday to celebrate and plan for, one has lived beyond the era of irresponsible behaviors that actually kill you.

Drive down to TJ, if your'e willing to travel a tad bit. There u can do anything u want, 18+ If not, you can always go to a restarunt that turns into a club at night. Make a reservation for dinner and they wont ask for I.D., then just hang around till people come for dancing and drinks. I used to do that at White Lotus, in L.a.
Good Luck, happy b-day.

Don't do it! This is just one of those stupid American customs that leads to bad things... I mean California has a higher fatality rate of drunk driving in a year than all of Germany and German has narrower roads, faster speed limits, higher alcohol content, and a musch larger population than CA. Doing the going out thing is just paving the way for something bad to happen. I have yet to talk to someone who didn't have something bad happen when they went out at 21 years old to go drinking.
If you must go... you should go to one of those places where it is 18 and up, but when I was in CA those places basically fenced off people who drank from those who weren't old enough... maybe wait until you are all 21 to go out and in the mean time party it up at your apartment where you can all get drunk safely and won't have to drive.

There are a number of websites that cater to L.A. clubs and nightlife. A lot of the clubs are 18 and over. You CAN get in with your friends, and YOU can drink even if they can't. Check out the sites and review the clubs and ages (some of the sites even list them by entry-age) and go from there. I couldn't begin to help out with a "dance" club.

C'mon Jez, I just answered a little girl who was raped after drinking too much.
Congratulations on your birthday, but think sober and sane, and live the rest of your life not having a sad story of your 21st birthday.
Good Luck

I had that same problem, but somehow my friends drank anyway. I'm not sure how though, I was pretty drunk.
