It depends on the way you do it. Most likly youer using your knees and your keeping back still see the dolphin kick is always done with the abs the legs just go along for the ride so when you are doing dolphin kick practice on your back and use your abs. If your abs hurt after a while You are doing it correctly. Your back is obviously very stiff and still so use your abs

im am a membership swimmer and we have got to do dolphin kick for our hot up usually.. Here are a couple of hints to aid you. preserve ur legs in combination and placed ur fingers out infront and maintain ur arms. As u kick by way of the water deliver ur head into ur chest at any time when u duck ur head beneath the water, this makes u drift additional. Also use ur hips to transport ur legs in combination no longer ur waist. All the movment in butterfly or dolphin kick comes from the hips. But u must simply preserve kicking and kicking. I desire i would aid :)

It may be that you're back & musles are not used to that kick. Wait & see how your back is in a few days if it still is hurting I would def. go to the doctor.

It may be that you're not used to that kick. You body may be using muscles you haven't used like that before so they are tired and sore. That happens to me when I haven't been scuba diving in a while.

your body is probably just not used to doing it. my lower back hurts after doing it with fins but it usually goes away after awhile. Its normal. Practice should fix it.
