15 years old and enjoying my last ever full summer off after sophomore year of high school. Hanging out at Windansea beach with the surfer gangs (Mack Meda Destruction Company rules!), working on my tan, babysitting for the neighbors, sewing myself micro-mini halter dresses to wear with my Dr. Scholls sandals. Getting together with girlfriends to giggle about boys and play the White Album backwards over and over to figure out what it all really meant. Counting the days till my 16th birthday so I could go on my first date.

Was life ever really that simple?

I spent quite a bit of that summer at Sleepy Hollow Camp Ground in Port Clinton, Ohio with some friends.

We slept out in a tent, had cookouts, went fishing and row boating. That was years before Davis-Bessie Neuclear Power Plant was built.

Aviano, Italy. One of the odd things about growing up a military brat- you remember what year it was that something happened by where you lived that year
