If you are finding out through genetic testing, they would wait until you come to the doctor's office. Be wary of any doctor's office that will give you information on the telephone without discussing that in the office with you in person, it may seem like a convenience thing, but if they would give out your personal medical information over the phone, how do you know that your information is safe from others? Anyway, as far as if you are getting the information through ultrasound, they will tell you right there and then. If they don't you may have to ask them yourself. They didn't offer the information to us during my first pregnancy, it was like the thought hadn't even crossed her mind that we wanted to know. The gender of the baby is not one of the important factors as far as the health of the baby as far as they're concerned. Check into whether you can get videos as well. The u/s place in my city will put everything on tape if you supply it. It's much nicer to be able to show the baby moving and hear the heartbeat than just to have the still picture. Congratulations, enjoy the sleep you get b4 the baby comes. Good luck with everything.

You find out then and there. They do an ultrasound and you can see the baby on the screen. They take measurements of the brain, abdomen, and look at the 4 chamber heart. They will give you pictures and some may video tape the session for you and it only cost like 10$. They may or may not do that where your from, but i got my first ultrasound on the 1st of August. Im having a baby GIRL!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations on whatever you are having , im sure you will be a great mom.

Hi there! When you are about 3 and a half to 4 months pregnant, they can usually tell on a sonogram the sex of the baby, if it's in the correct position and if you want to know. Then, they'll tell you right there.
P.S. You can get online to enfamil.com, huggies.com, similac.com, verybestbaby.com, and many others and they'll send you a bunch of free stuff for your baby! It's real cool! My best friend did that when she found out she was pregnant, and her baby is 9 mths old, and places are still sending her free stuff!!
By the way, CONGRATS and GOOD LUCK!!

you will have a sonogram done any they will ask you if you want to know and if you do they will tell you right then and there, but thats only if they can see it and can tell if its a boy or a girl. Most likely you won't know until your 20 weeks pregnant. Good Luck.

If you find out from a sonogram (usual), they'll tell you right there. If you find out from an amnio that takes a couple of days to process they'll probably have you come in to discuss the results.

Happy to see all the replies saying they tell you in the office. I think it would be very unprofessional to tell you over the phone. Kinda like bad news, you don't know how the receiver will react.
