Not necessarily. I do not intend to sound cruel or vindictive, but you should treat people the way they need to be treated. For example, one may prefer to be coddled by those around them--but the people that surround them are severly comprimised in thier attitude and need an attack to spur them into being more productive members of society. You would not be treating them the way YOU would want them to treat you, but the way that is better for them.

People are not all on a level playing field in any respects and need to be addressed in ways representative of their unique personalities.

Yes indeed, whether you believe in God, Carma,Higher Power or Luck. What ever you or I do will come back to us three fold sooner or later.
I guess that sounds like superstition, I am sorry, I do not know how else to describe my life experiences.
I believe in God. In angelic protection to a point. I also believe that there is no good luck or bad luck. That our actions form our own future! So, Treat folks the way you wish to be treated works really well for me!

It is always the best way to live.one should always respect others however, let's be pragmatic, too.
Do not expect the favor to be returned. Be ready for disappointments and anger. Deal with these drawbacks non-violently. For example, workout, play sports, go to a game and scream for your team, take walk, or even threaten and yell at and punch the wall in private, whatever it takes to unload it and the world will be a better place, one kind act at a time.

No. There are times when the sanest, safest thing you can do fro yourself is to simply walk away from someone. There are times the only way you can treat a person is with utter disgust.

Other people's behaviour does not depend upon your treatment of them.

I guess that would depend on the way you want to be treated, your opinion of your own self-worth, your insecurities, and whether or not you have any strange and unusual fetishes.
