I am 31, female, I like funny chick books such as "Bridgette Jones's Diary", "Confessions of a Shopaholic" etc.....

I also love books that sort of make you feel warm inside, nice stories.

So I am looking for suggestions on what book I should read next. What do you think?

I dont usually read "chick books", but one I recently read and liked is "Rachel's Holiday" by Marian Keyes.

Since you like Bridgette Jones' Diary, you may want to consider any of the Jane Austen novels (except Lady Susan). After all, Bridgette Jones' Diary is a modern knockoff of Pride and Prejudice.

I would also recommend Shakespeare's comedies, such as Twelfth Night, All's Well That Ends Well.

I personally enjoy Hemingway's novels. Unfortunately, they will usually leave you feeling anguish and quite the opposite of what you are looking for.

If you don't mind borrowing "chick" books from the YA genre, you should definitely read the Georgia Nicolson series by Louise Rennison. After reading the first book, "Angus Thongs & Full Frontal Snogging" I saw that it was imitation Bridget Jones for teenagers...

Anyway, there are seven books in the series (so far) there seems to be one each year...and they are laugh out loud funny.

how about diane mott davidson books, they are mystery/thrillers with the heroine being a caterer...she got some strange titles but they are well written and funny. also if you are not adverse to christian themes there are the mitford book series, i can remember the authors name but its a woman and she writes very well, humorous but contemporary...the series is about an elderly priest who marries in his sixties and live in the little town of mitford, the town has some real characters living in it, sad and funny just like real life. as you can tell i am an eclectic reader...from mystery to biographies and i read a lot...within the last month i have read over 10 books so i got lots of titles swirling through my head...

I'm not sure how much I can help, I'm not really into "chick" books, but if you looking for a book that will make you think then I would recommend any book by Frank Peretti.
