After I make the bottles i'm always using a fork to fish out the lumps. It's worse than my mother's gravy!

re breastfeeding: she's 9 months old and i pumped and fed her breastmilk exclusively for the first four months. She would not latch on, so after 4 months of double duty I switched to formula.

I make up enough formula for 24 hours, not individual bottles. If you make it in a larger container with warm water, and mix it with a whisk, it gets rid of all the clumps. The liquid stuff is way more conveinent, but its much more expensive. I would just buy the powder and try mixing it this way. I've not had any problems with it so far!

I have to use formula while my wife is at work(she breastfeeds), i'm a stay at home dad so i've learned a few tricks, lol.

I usually make an 8 oz. bottle at one time and make the water a little warm. Then I put one cup in at a time of the foumula slowly so it soaks up the water before adding the next cup. I don't have any lumps in mine now...

I have noticed that some formulas tend to clump up alot more than others, I use Similac.

I've never used formula, but I've seen my friend make it many times. She just puts the water in the bottle, then adds the powder and shakes it. She then warms it in the microwave ( I probably woundn't use a microwave to warm it though ) You could also try the liquid kind that you add water to.

Use really really warm water when mixing powder formula shake really really fast. Concentrate is the best formula to use and taste much better to the baby. I know I wouldn't like to drink powdered milk or water milk so I only used it when traveling out of state as it was a lot fresher and easier to do.

#1 For immediate prep make sure the water is semi warm it ALWAYS helps.

#2 Premake bottles from powder you can use almost hot water and shake like mad put in your fridge for at least 3 hours and it gives it time for all the air to rise to the top.

#3 If all else fails and you really sick of it use the liquid consentrate.

Put the water in first then add the formula, shake the **ll out of it. I never had lumps in my formula. Really warm water works well too. These breast feeding people are enough to drive you nuts. It's YOUR choice. Good luck

Warm water, shake like crazy. Do you make them in advance? I use powdered when we're out - someone told me once that the air bubbles from shaking can cause gas, but my pediatrician said that was ridiculous. So don't worry about shake'n'serve.

And NEVER feel like you have to justify the way you feed your baby, especially to strangers!

First, try using warm water to mix. If you still have a problem, try another brand of formula. The only one I really don't have problems with is Enfamil.

I used very warm water to make the bottles and then shake them well with the cap on (not the nipple). This worked much better than cold water.

go to a health food store and buy the plastic bottles that are used to make protein shakes. They have these screen things at the top that makes the poweder mix really well.
